Simon Reeve leads a team of journalists on a journey of discovery in the Philippines, from the staggering scenery of the mountainous rice terraces in the north, to the war-torn Muslim regions of the south.
In the capital, Manila, population pressure has led to some surprising consequences. The city's largest cemetery has become home to a thriving community, who look after the tombs of the rich but also have their own schools and shops. The country is still in some political turmoil and a long-running communist insurgence has led to allegations of illegal killings by the army. Simon meets a general known as 'The Butcher'.
Simon also has a surreal encounter from the past - an interview with Imelda Marcos, who is marketing a new line in beauty products. It's a stunning country with bizarre wild life and a population of tropical 'Sea Gypsies' whose lifestyle is feeling pressure from the modern world..

this reporter did not really show the entire picture of the capital city. she only showed the negative aspects. why not be balanced and show the areas of Ayala Makati, the Mall of Asia, the Fort, Rockwell, Eastwood, Greenbelt.

For me this is conspicuous documentary that I've watch here in you tube about philippines. Because, other documentary contains more negative opinions about philippines they say that philippines is very worst country. But, they didn't know that in the philippines have a secret destination like the underground river in Palawan islands. And those people here are most hospitality than others.

If Your Fiancée is from there and you will meet "The Family" soon, then aside from wishing you "good Fortunes" , I think this video (even if its my own) might not provide enough depth ... it is meant for the "visual traveller" ... It only spotlights some current issues & areas ... I berlieve you will be very happy there, despite all the issues ...

zamboanga? dude i wouldn't advice you going there... if you want to visit mindanao go to davao, and/or the caraga region instead.... but personally i prefer davao, you can also stop by cebu and bohol in the visayas on the way there if you want you won't regret it.
