At the Meadham Kirchhoff show, we stepped into what looked like a high school prom, complete with arches of pastel coloured balloons and ginormous gold drapes at the end of the catwalk. But it was what emerged from said drapes that really had the FROW enthralled. The show began with Courtney Love-like dancers prancing about in silky dresses and colour-popping tights. THEN the models arrived, walking around the dancers wearing wacktacular outfits consisting of lemon coloured jackets, fluffy cloud-like skirts and cutsey cardies patterned with hearts, all polished off with thigh-high socks and glittering wedges adorned with pom poms. Oh, and there were ballerinas too. For the finale, one hopped onto the stage shrouded in gold and turned into a music box figure. But why bother explaining the bonkersness when you can WATCH the entire show in full? You're welcome. http://www.graziadaily.co.uk/fashion/archive/2011/09/20/meadham-kirchhoff-s-s12-show--watch-here.htm

If you have a look at the clothes in stills they are amazing. But the show is part of that artist expression. It was visually engaging and told you what the collection was about. It was a lot more interesting than seeing girls walk in a straight line. The music from edward scissor hands fitted in perfectly.

I like the show itself, very cool and colourful, however if you have a look at the clothes, I can only spot few pieces that are good, the cut out jackets. I think there's much buzz about this when you actually can't see anything but set designing. I hope they will take clothes a bit more serious next season, just as they used to. It's nice to see all this circus, but there should be a balance between the s.d. and clothing (which is what it really matters...)!

love how much that woman at the end was in such a hurry to leave. you could see her packing up her stuff half way through the show, she couldn't get out quick enough!!!
i think you're wrong about the pieces not being commercially wearable. they are all cute little separates that a lot of women would wear, if toned down with something else. the cut-out jackets are very desirable

Way to spell Kirchhoff wrong Grazia! Blat!
couturemomnyc - 21.9.2011 12:16:50
I think possibly there were very few pieces, from a buyers point of view, that are commercially wearable.
It was brilliant though in their creativity but not all really sellable. Leave it to Meadham Kirchoff for a show like this!
