You're only half right. It depends on the color chart you're going off of. With the CYM (Cyan Yellow Magenta) chart, Black is a mixture of all colors, but with the RGB (Red Green Blue) chart, White is a mixture of all colors.

light-wise, yes white is a combination of all light/colors, and black is an absence of light/color. But if you want to get artsy-fartsy about it, then white is an absence of color and and black is all colors. They're flip-flopped, art makes its own rules.

lets solve this dispute: white light is a combination of every colour, black is an absence of colour. however white objects reflect all light and dont absorb any so they do not have any colour, and black objects absorb all light but dont reflect any so they have every colour.
